R. Parthiban calls Mohanlal and Mammootty's 'Patriot' a rare cinematic experience; 'Very few films make us feel watched'

Actor-director R. Parthiban has now become the latest celebrity to praise 'Patriot' with an emotional and poetic review. Even though the film has received mixed responses from audiences, Parthiban’s heartfelt appreciation has grabbed attention online. Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the film stars Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, and Mohanlal in important roles. In his long social media note, Parthiban praised the performances, filmmaking style, and emotional impact of the movie in his own unique way.Parthiban’s comments about the lead actors have especially gone viral among cinema fans. Praising Mammootty and Mohanlal, he wrote, “The two big ‘M’s are in this movie… But they didn’t come as stars. They came as experience.” He further added, “Mammootty Sir doesn’t perform dialogue… he releases weight through silence. Mohanlal Sir, he is simply existing inside the frame. That ease cannot be learned. It can only be lived.” Speaking about Fahadh Faasil, Parthiban wrote, “Fear, confusion, intelligence… everything passes through him like electricity.” He also praised Kunchacko Boban by calling his performance “Softness outside… storm inside.”Apart from the performances, Parthiban was deeply impressed by the film’s making and technical quality. Calling it an international-level experience, he wrote, “This is not a Malayalam movie… In the name of a Malayalam movie, they have quietly taken an English movie!” He also praised the director by saying, “The director didn’t simply ‘take’ a film… he took us inside the film.” According to him, the biggest strength of the movie was its maturity and control. “Nowadays, technology is available for everyone… but taste is not. This film has taste in every frame,” he stated. His comments have now increased curiosity around the film among audiences who have yet to watch it.Parthiban also appreciated cinematographer Manush Nandan for capturing emotions beyond visuals. “The camera didn’t merely capture faces, it captured fear, tension, and silence too,” he wrote.
