Actress Radikaa Sarathkumar has shared a throwback post from her debut film, Kizhakkey Pogum Rail. The film, which released in 1978, was directed by veteran filmmaker Bharathirajaa, and starred Radikaa and Sudhakar in the lead roles. Sharing a collage of pics from the film's shoot, Radikaa wrote, "My first day picture on the sets of “Kizhakey Pogum Rail”, the picture taken on the last day of shoot and the other picture is practising the art of smiling without disturbing the lipstick. lovely memories." (sic)
The actress has often spoken about how she was quite the novice during the making of her first film, and how directed Bharathirajaa cajoled her and got a memorable performance out of her. Radikaa has also, in previous interviews, mentioned about wanting to quit cinema post her first film. However, fate willed otherwise, as she was destined to become one of the great actresses in the Tamil film industry. After the success of Kizhakkey Pogum Rail, the actress became a sought-after actress in Tamil and Telugu, sharing screen space with the major stars in both these film industries. She also became a favourite of the audiences.
After being part of several blockbusters and winning acclaim and awards for her performances throughout the 80s, the actress returned in a new avatar in the early 90s with Bharathirajaa's Kizhakku Cheemaiyile. Later, she also entered television, starting her own production house, and became a trendsetter on the small screen, producing and acting in popular serials like Chithi, Annamalai, Chellamey and Vani Rani.
