Looks like
Rahman is going to have a busy 2021. The actor, who has been juggling films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, recently joined the team of his Malayalam film Samara, directed by debutant Charles Joseph. He is playing the lead in the investigative thriller, which is being filmed in Kulu-Manali now.
A source says, “Rahman will be shooting for 15 days in Kulu for the film.
Sanjana Dipu and Bharath are also part of the cast. Samara is a Hebrew word, which means protected by God. It’s not the name of a character. The story is connected with an issue that transpired in 1939, during the Second World War.”
After this, Rahman will directly fly to Hyderabad to join the team of
Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan. The source adds, “This will be his second schedule with the team; he had first shot with them in early January. He is playing one of the Chozha kings, though there is no official word yet on the exact character. He will shoot for his role for over two weeks.”
Rahman also has in his kitty a film with Mohan Raja’s associate, Subbaram. “That’s also a lead role. The first-look poster of the film will be out soon. Rahman is also doing Ahmed’s
Jana Gana Mana with Jaya, Ravi and Taapsee, and Thupparivalan 2 with
Vishal,” the source adds.
