Rajinikanth has joined forces with director TJ Gnanavel for his upcoming film, which has been tentatively titled 'Thalaivar 170'. The shooting of the film began a few days ago, and Rajinikanth was filming some major portions of the film in Kerala and Tirunelveli. Now, the latest update is that Rajinikanth is back home in Chennai as he wrapped up the initial schedule of 'Thalaivar 170'.
Rajinikanth got a tremendous response from fans in Kerala and Tirunelveli as thousands of people gathered to meet the Superstar on the sets. Despite the crowded situation, the shooting of 'Thalaivar 170' headed well according to the makers' plan, and Rajinikanth has successfully wrapped up the foremost schedule of the TJ Gnanavel directorial.
Rajinikanth will be taking a short break, and he will rejoin the 'Thalaivar 170' in Kanyakumari to resume the film's shoot. Rajinikanth is essaying the role of a cop in 'Thalaivar 170', and it's going to be another cop role for the Superstar actor after his latest outing, 'Jailer', which transformed into a blockbuster hit. But this time Rajinikanth will be fighting for a social cause, as he reportedly plays the cop who fights against fake encounters.

Rajinikanth also has 'Lal Salaam' in the pipeline, and the film marks the comeback directorial of the actor's elder Aishwarya. Rajinikanth plays an extended cameo in the film that is set against a cricket backdrop, while
Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth play the main roles. 'Lal Salaam' is locked to have a pan-Indian release for Pongal 2024, and the film will have music scored by AR Rahman.
