Rajshri roots for reality roles

The actress, who is currently filming a Kannada film is also gearing up for her Tamil debut.
Rajshri roots for reality roles
For a model and actress who has hitherto been seen in chic roles, Rajshri Ponnappa surprised Mollywood with her debut in the industry as a nun in Pithavinum, Puthranum,Parishuddhathmavinum. Her second in the industry, director Reji Nairs woman-centric Tamil-Malayalam bilingual, Aram, also sees her in a deglam avatar.
Though, the actress asserts, Its not like only doing deglam works in Mollywood; it hasnt been a conscious decision. You can always do the running around trees kind of roles; but movies as these dont come your way every now and then.
While her debut has Rajshri playing a girl who is forced to be a nun, her second, Aram, is a psycho thriller. Were halfway through the shoot and the second schedule will begin in March. These films have given me performance-oriented roles and have challenged the actress in me. They were emotionally draining too, for both these roles are as intense as can be, Rajshri states.
The actress, who is currently filming the Kannada film, Paro, Wife of Devdas, is also gearing up for her Tamil debut. Interestingly, I play a gutsy village belle in the film, which has me opposite actor Vikranth. These days, we have a lot of films that have rooted-to-reality themes that people can relate to. It feels good to be part of such films, she says.
