Santhanam’s next to be shot in live locations during the pandemic
Santhanam, who wrapped up the shoot of Parris Jayaraj recently, is immediately moving on to shoot for another film. The yet-untitled movie, which goes on floors today in Kumbakonam, will be a family entertainer. Srinivasa Rao, who has assisted Arivazhagan in Vallinam, will be making his directorial debut with this film.
“This is a script that suits Santhanam, but at the same time, it has a few elements that will be new for him as an actor.

The film will not just be a comedy. There will be some emotional moments which will offer him scope to score as an actor. There will also be humour based on contemporary politics, though the film isn’t a political satire,” says Srinivasa, who has several TV commercials to his credit.
“Santhanam’s comedy in the film will be as funny as it was in Boss Engira Baskaran, which is one of his best works till date, and had a huge reach in the B & C centres,” assures the filmmaker.
A newcomer will be playing the female lead in this film, which will have MS Bhaskar and Sayaji Shinde in crucial supporting roles. Sam CS will be scoring the music for this film while Baskar Arumugam, who has worked with the filmmaker on his previous gigs, will be handling the cinematography.
“We are planning this as a big-budget film, and the story is set in Srirangam, Trichy, and Kumbakonam. We are actually shooting in live locations in these places,” he informs. Given the pandemic, he adds that the team is taking all precautions to ensure safety. “We are working with a smaller unit than usual. Moreover, we have stocked up on masks and sanitisers for the entire shoot,” signs off Srinivasa.
