Filmmaker Jeyachandra Hashmi’s short film Sweet Biriyani is all set to be screened at the Indian Panorama segment of the 52nd edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be held in Goa from November 20 to 28. The film revolves around the life of a food delivery employee and the gamut of emotions he experiences in a day.
Throwing light on the film, Hashmi, a former associate of director Seenu Ramasamy, tells us, “The plot is the outcome of my observation of the lives of food delivery agents.
1x1 polls
We see them every day, but our interactions are limited to our respective delivery orders. Sweet Biriyani revolves around their experiences with different kinds of people on a daily basis. There is an underlying message about caste and class discrimination as well, as the lead character hails from an underprivileged background.”
RJ Sarithran, who plays the food delivery agent, says, “Sweet Biriyani is an intense film, but narrated with a tinge of humour. Since I have had prior experience in the food industry, I could slip into the character easily. I also have a unique walk in the film for which I had to practise by walking differently every day.”
The star cast includes Balaji Venugopal, Sumathi, Deepan, Nivya, Ahamabro and Theleepan. Music for the film is by Aruldev, cinematography by Praveen Balu and editing by Gowtham GA.
