Real-life incidents have always inspired filmmakers, and joining the list is
KT Nayak. The director's Dandupalayam, based on a gang of robbers who terrorised innocent people, is set for release now.
A source says, "In the 1990s, a gang that belonged to Dandupalayam in Karnataka terrorised people. They travelled from one city to another, looting people, killing them and raping women.
Their way of attacking was very different, and also very gory. Nayak has gathered information on the crimes committed by the gang and written a story."
The film stars
Suman Ranganathan, Mumaith Khan, DS Rao, Rockline Sudhakar, Sanjeev Kumar and Richa in important roles. The source adds, "The film has already released in Kannada and Telugu earlier this year. Now, producer Venkat has adapted the screenplay in Tamil, and this version will release in December. Interestingly, he has also done an important role in the film."
