Tamannaah settles dispute with producer Salim Akhtar
Producer Salim Akhtar and Tamannaah have decided to settle their dispute for an amount of ` 25 lakhs. Akhtar, who gave Tamannaah a break with Chand Sa Roshan Chehra in 2005, had filed a case against the actress with the Association of Motion Picture and TV Programme Producers (AMPTPP) and the Calcutta High Court, for cheating and breach of contract.
According to the contract, Tamannaah was supposed to share 25 per cent of her earnings with the producer for five years. But she moved to the south film industry, and Akhtar waited for five years and then filed the complaint in 2010. The producer has now decided to withdraw the case.
It is learnt that initially, Akhtar was not ready to settle for a small amount, but later did so after the association convinced him. Says Akhtar, I have agreed to abide by my associations decision. Apart from the money, there are some other things that have been agreed upon. But all I can say is that I have settled my case with Tamannaah.
Now that the case with the association is closed, will he withdraw the court case too? To this, Tamannaahs father Santosh Bhatia says, "The producer is in the process of doing it." President of AMPTPP, Sajid Nadiadwala, says, Since both the parties are family friends, it was easier for us to come to a settlement."
