Popular Tamil film director Hari's father VA Gopalakrishnan passed away today in Chennai, and he was 88 years old.
Gopalakrishnan, who had been ill for the last few weeks, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai. But the 88-year-old failed to make it into the recovery path, and he passed away today (Oct 21) morning. The disappearance of
Hari's father has caused grief among the director's family.
Gopalakrishnan's mortal remains are kept at Hari's residence in Saligramam, Chennai. Later they will be taken to their native village Kachanavlai in the Tuticorin district, and his last rites will be held tomorrow (Oct 22). Including director Hari, Gopalakrishnan has five sons and two daughters.
Meanwhile, fans and friends of Hari have been sharing their condolences for the director on social media, while some popular stars are expected to visit Hari's home in Chennai to pay their last respects to the friendly director's father.
Director Hari, who made his debut with the 2002 Tamil film 'Thamizh' starring Prashanth in the lead role, has delivered several commercial hits in his 21 years of cinema, and he has associated with several leading heroes.

Hari is currently filming for his film with
Vishal in the lead role, and the team recently wrapped the second schedule for the film which is tentatively titled 'Vishal 34'. The upcoming film marks the third union of Hari and Vishal, and it's also expected to be an action-packed film from the successful duo.
