'Thambikkottai's a commercial film'

He was waiting for a film that would be better than Anjathey. ���������I���������ve been getting similar scripts post Anjathey ��������� serious and intense. People approached me to play either a cop or a person who does drugs! What���������s the point of doing a film that isn���������t better than my previous project?��������� asks Narain, as he adds, ���������I will do a film like Anjathey if I get it from a director like Mysskin.���������Slowly, the actor���������s priorities seem to havechanged. ���������I realised that the industry works on the basis of market. So,instead of waiting for mature cinema to come my way, I decided to do a puccacommercial film. That���������s how Thambikkottai happened,��������� hesmiles.The film is being directed by Ammu Ramesh, who is a formerassistant of Jayam Raja. ���������When Ramesh narrated the script, I was convincedthe man was capable of delivering what he promised. His short films have wonawards and I was sure his film would entertain the audience aswell.���������Narain plays Azhagiri, a college student, in the film.���������It���������s a full-fledged commercial, feel-good film. The herodoesn���������t just fight... he fights for a good reason,��������� he says.���������The film is about Azhagiri and his friends who come to Thambikkottai, avillage, as part of their NSS camp. There, they find out that the bridge thatconnects this village to the next is not functional. Azhagiri soon realises thathe���������s one of the reasons why the bridge is non-functional,��������� headds.Narain has the company of veteran actors like Prabhu, Meena andSangitha in this film. ���������This is the first film where I got to work withexperienced actors. Meena, one of my favourite actresses, plays my sister in thefilm. She is very professional, which I think is the secret of her success.Sangitha plays a negative character and has posed with a veecharuva for thisfilm! And Prabhu sir is like the pillar of the film,��������� hesays.Narain also pairs up with Poonam Bajwa for the first time. ���������Poonam is an easy actress to work with,��������� he states. The actoralso has Pookada Ravi and an untitled bilingual with debutant Vasan on hand.���������In Pookada Ravi, I play a fun-loving guy. But, for some reason, theproject hasn���������t taken off.
