Malavika made her debut as a female lead in 1999 with the Tamil film 'Unnai Thedi' opposite Ajith. Malavika's lovely role grabbed attention, and she signed some back-to-back films. Following her successful line of films in Tamil, Malavika stepped into Kannada and Telugu movie industries.
Malavika soon transformed into a popular South actress, and she even made her debut in Malayalam and Hindi. Malavika has been selective about her films, and even did supporting roles when they were solid. However, after a few years, she lost her dominance and started doing cameo roles and special appearances.

Malavika has also proved her skills as a dancer, and her wonderful dance moves to the song 'Vazha Meenuku' in 'Chithiram Pesuthadi' set a trend in Tamil cinema.
On the personal front, Malavika tied the knot with Sumesh Menon in 2007, and the couple has two sons. But did you know that Malavika was pregnant when she appeared for a song in Vijay starrer 'Kuruvi', and that was the reason why she wasn't given tough dance moves in the song?

Malavika later started to concentrate on her family, and she was off from films since 2009. But the talented actress has decided to make a re-entry to films after 14 years. She has roped in to play a crucial role in Sundar C's upcoming film 'Golmaal', which features Jiiva in the lead role.
