Unruly cop leaves Shanthnu fuming

If you think that it is only the common folk that have to face uncomfortable questions from the cops at night, think again. Recently, actor Shanthnu Bhagyaraj and his wife, Kiki Vijay had a bad experience with a policeman, who, they claim, harassed them near Valluvar Kottam junction on the wee hours of Monday.
���Our driver was driving the car when this incident took place, at 2.20am.We were returning home after dropping off my sister-in-law and her husband at their home. We got a call from her saying that her phone might have fallen inside our car, so, we stopped by Tank Road in Nungambakkam to look for the phone. A policeman spotted us stopping there, so, I asked my driver to switch on the light. But this policeman charged at us, and parked his jeep really close to ours. He then put his hand inside my car and opened the door. Kiki was on the edge of the seat and was about to fall down. He started questioning us on why we had stopped the car. We tried telling him that we were only searching for a phone, but he refused to listen and was extremely rude to us. It took him a good 10 minutes to realise who we were,��� recollects Shanthnu.
As an after-thought, he asks, ���Did he calm down only because we are actors and people know us? What if he had misbehaved like this with someone else? I understand he had a reason to be suspicious and wanted to enquire what we were doing, but he was very rude. And most importantly, he seemed to be under the influence of alcohol, which only made things worse. I respect our police, but people like him spoil the name of the entire force.���
