After helming the fantasy action Urumeen, Sakthivel Perumalsamy is gearing up to start work on his next — a project that he calls ‘India’s first dog adventure film’. Sakthivel says, “The story is based on a few incidents that happened recently. We’ve all read about incidents where stray dogs were killed because they were believed to be the carriers of certain diseases.

There have also been reports on how strays were mistreated by humans. The film will explore the life of one such stray that escapes cruelty.”
Calling his film an action adventure, Sakthivel says, “The story revolves around a stray dog, which escapes into the jungle, and is found by four boys. There, it learns the art of survival. By nature, dogs are wild animals, but we have domesticated them. They have killer instincts, and have the determination to fight against all odds. The film will be one adventurous ride, both for the dog and the four boys.”
Tell him that there have been films in which dogs have played pivotal roles before and he says, “Yes, but this one is centered on a dog, and will be something that the audience haven’t seen before.”
The director has found his lead in a stray dog that he spotted in Kerala. “We’ve now trained him and are ready to roll as soon as things get back to normalcy in Kollywood. The film will be shot in the jungles of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and also in Africa,” he signs off.
