Velmurugan: On a different pitch

He���������s already sung 50 songs in Kollywood and has managed to shake off the folk singer tag.
And now, post the Otha Sollala... number in Aadukalam, he���������s perhaps achieved one of his first dreams ��������� to sing for a star!
���������Yes, it was a big chance to sing for Dhanush and I grabbed it,��������� states the singer, who is still remembered for the Madura...number in Subramaniapuram and Aadungada... in Nadodigal, ���������This is my first big step in film music and I���������m delighted that I got a chance to sing in the GV-Vetrimaran combo.���������
But it wasn���������t an easy job. ���������Though I was confident about doing the high pitch notes right, I was hesitant about the notes in low-pitch. When I expressed my doubts to GV, he got me a walkman, recorded the song and asked me to practise it. I got on the job and worked hard on getting it right.��������� Velmurugan has crooned numbers in projects such as Magizchi, Vamsam, Bale Pandiya, Aayiram Vilakku and Mandhira Punnagai besides others.
The singer hopes to shake off the folk singer tag a bit post the release of Otha Sollala..... ���������The number, unlike some of my other previous songs, is for a star. It has proved that my voice can match a star on-screen,��������� he adds.
He���������s looking forward to crooning a melody when it comes his way. ���������Even in Aadukalam, I liked Yathe Yathe... better than the number I sung for the film. That���������s because of the melody present in it. Also, lyrics sit well on such tunes. I hope to sing such a song soon,��������� he states shyly.
