Vijay's film producer trashes rumours
Karunamoorthi, one of the producers of Kaththi, actor Vijays next film with director A R Murugadoss, has come out strongly in defense of his co-producer Subaskaran, saying the latter and his production house have no links with Sri Lankan President Rajapakse whatsoever.
The producers clarification comes in the wake of media reports that claimed that Tamil groups had been enraged by claims that Subaskaran had close links to Rajapakse.

The Tamil groups had reportedly voiced this concern of theirs to the films crew as well. Talking to Times of India, Karunamoorthi said, There is no truth in rumours doing the rounds that Subaskaran and his firm are close to Rajapakse.
But if that was the case, then what had led to such rumours in the first place? Explained Karunamoorthi, These rumours started only after our visit to Sri Lanka. We were a group of 60 people and we visited Sri Lanka in November last year. Subaskaran and I are both Sri Lankan Tamils. After 27 years, he wanted to visit our homeland. Hence, we went back. While doing so, we used two army choppers to get to Mullaitheevu and it is only after this trip that rumours have started. We used these copters only because that was the fastest mode of transport and because the army now rents them.
So, why have they not considered initiating action against rumour mongers? Said Karunamoorthi, As of now, individuals whose identities cannot be established are spreading these rumours in Europe. Nobody has directly countered us. We have sued a UK Tamil television channel that has put out a report to this effect. When asked what Vijay had to say on the rumours, he said, The crew told us that they had read reports on these allegations and requested us for clarity on the issue.
