Acting admittedly happened by chance, while his sights were set on direction.
Actor Kandesh Raj, whose films "Shankar Oor Rajapalayam" and "Manathil Oru Margazhi" ("Lilies of March" in Malayalam) are releasing soon, has dabbled in different roles before making the act as an actor.
���I was a dancer in my school days, ventured into choreography later on, and had my own show on choreography on Vijay TV.

I also worked as an assistant director for a Tamil film, which didn���t see the light of day. It was when I did my under-graduate studies in Hindusthan College of Arts and Science that I directed and acted in a few short films,��� he reveals.
An avid biker till he got into films, Kandesh says that reality shows are the right platform for youngsters to showcase their talent and ability, and this has led to increased awareness about film-making among the youth.
���Thanks to reality shows and viral media, the current generation can judge the quality of a film just by watching it���s trailer, and are beginning to appreciate off-beat themes with an impressive storyline as well,��� he points out.
���While there is plenty of home-grown talent, there is no support or backing by sponsors here, which is why most emerging actors prefer to go to Chennai,��� he rues.
