Where is Vadivelu these days?

The ace comedian continues to be persona non grata for most filmmakers in K-Town
Looks like fans of Vadivelu will have to wait longer to see their favourite comedian in action on the big screen again. The actor has not been signed up by any director or producer in Kollywood after he burnt his fingers campaigning for the former ruling party in the recent elections.He also got embroiled in legal issues that only added to his troubles.
Recently, there were reports that the comedian has been signed up by Sundar C, who is returning to direction after a while. Vadivelu���������s comedy segments in the director���������s previous flicks like Winner and Giri were hits with the audience and are still being played on television channels. However, when we contacted Sundar C, he said, ���������Vadivelu is not there in my movie. The reports are just rumours.���������
The only reason why filmmakers in Kollywood are apprehensive about casting the comedian seems to be because they do not want to antagonize the ruling party which the actor heavily criticized during the elections.
Says an industry insider ���������For the producer or the director casting him, there is a chance of retribution from the powers ��������� in one form or the other. And, they don���������t want to take that chance. Unless the actor makes peace with the present establishment, he will find the going tough.���������
However, the source also adds that Vadivelu���������s name still holds value in the trade. ���������Directors would gladly sign him up as he can attract the masses to theatres,��������� he says. It may be recalled Vadivelu would charge Rs 10 lakh per day at one point in his career.
The actor���������s last major film was Kaavalan with Ilayathalapathy Vijay and he���������ll soon be seen in Prashanth���������s flick Mambattiyan for which he shot quite a while back. Let���������s hope the actor resolves his problems and gets back to what he does best ��������� having us in splits.
