K Bhagyraj releases the background score from 'Ulagammai' composed by Ilaiyaraaja

film directed by Vijay Prakash titled ‘

Ulagammai

’ has its background score and music composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Director and actor

K Bhagyraj

released the background music from the film on March 2.

The film has three songs composed by Ilaiyaraaja. He has also penned the lyrics of the songs along with Muthulingam and Saravana for the movie.

‘Ulagammai’ is produced under the banner of

Madras Digital Cinema Academy

and the story of the film is based on the Tamil novel ‘Oru Kottukku Veliye’ written by

Su Samuthiram

. The story is set in 1970 in rural Tamil Nadu. The shooting for the film has been reportedly completed and it is expected to release in theatres in April.

, Vetri Mithran in the lead roles and Marimuthu, GM Sundar, James and Pranav are also part of the cast playing the supporting roles.

Director Vijay Prakash is a former associate of director Bharathiraja. Speaking about the movie, Vijay Prakash reportedly stated that he was inspired by the stories written by late novelist Su Samuthiram and from the time he was a student, the books had a huge impact on him. He added that they have obtained the rights of making the movie based on the novel from the writer’s wife.
