Well, the wait is finally over. The theatrical trailer of
Samantha Akkineni’s forthcoming release ‘Oh Baby’ was unveiled this morning and going by the clip,
BV Nandini Reddy & Co seems to have delivered a heart-warming entertainer with good doses of emotional touch. It’s already evident that ‘Oh Baby’ is the Indian remake of ‘Miss Granny’, a South Korean comedy-drama showcasing the story of a 70-year-old grandma who magically finds herself in the body of her 23-year-old self after clicking a picture in a mysterious studio.
The film has already been remade into 14 different languages across the world.
While the teaser offered an initial glimpse of the plot, the trailer delves deeper into the story by revealing the identity of several characters. While the roles of Samantha, Rao Ramesh,
Naga Shaurya and
Lakshmi have been briefly elaborated in the first video, the 2-minute-12-seconds long trailer introduces
Adivi Sesh as an army soldier who happens to be Baby’s now-departed husband.

The video promo starts off with Baby’s best friend
Rajendra Prasad narrating the story of how a 70-year-old, played by Lakshmi gets turned into a 24-year-old, played by Samantha. However, her son, played by Rao Ramesh and his family refuse to believe the idea, advising Rajendra Prasad to consult a psychiatrist. Jagapathi Babu, on the other hand, plays the photographer who helps Baby regain her youth.
While Mickey J Meyer’s cool background score adds pace to the proceedings, the production values in ‘Oh Baby’ are top-notch. The surprise element in the trailer which catches your attention is the new actor on the block. Teja Sajja, the child artist who played younger Chiranjeevi in the 2002 blockbuster hit ‘Indra’ has essayed a substantial role and looks like he killed it with his portrayal. Nandini Reddy’s casting is spot on and everything fell in place perfectly.
To keep the buzz intact, here are four interesting takeaways from Oh Baby trailer:
Sam’s convincing portrayal of a 70-year-old in the body of a 23-year-old
For the past couple of years, Samantha has been showing her affinity towards content-driven films. After playing challenging roles in films like ‘Majili’ and ‘Super Deluxe’, the 32-year-old actress has certainly gone an extra mile in terms of acting abilities with ‘Oh Baby’. The comic timing is spot-on and her chemistry with all the male actors is too cute to miss. Considering the plot, Sam seems to have certainly delivered her career-best performance in this light-hearted entertainer.
Rajendra Prasad’s hilarious antics
Veteran actress Rajendra Prasad depicted the role of Baby’s (Lakshmi) friend in the film. Though he tries to convince Rao Ramesh & Co about the reverse-ageing of Baby, nobody believes him and with no option left, he too tries to become young by engaging in workouts and dressing in youthful clothes. The 62-year-old versatile performer nailed it with his hilarious antics and boy, his dialogue delivery and funky expressions leaves you glued to the trailer.

‘Oh Baby’ marks the return of veteran actress Lakshmi to the Telugu screen after quite some time. She fits the bill perfectly as a 70-year-old grandma and her screen-presence adds a lot of value to the frame. While Ramesh Rao is a seasoned performer who can nail any role with ease, Naga Shaurya is the surprise addition in this cast. His role is pretty interesting, to say the least, and the sequence where Samantha reveals the idea of her perfect husband to him is hilarious.
Well, super-fun is guaranteed on the 5th of July and don’t forget to book your tickets well in advance.
