A conversation can be sexy too...but men being men, will just not get it, says Bhumika Chawla, who is working in an experimental film
She isn���t the regular Punjabi kudi, at least when it comes to her food preferences. ���If I have to choose between a paratha and an idli, I���d go for idli always,��� she says laughing. ���A lot of my friends and family say that I am not a Sardarni,��� she adds.They say, you become what you eat and in her case it seems to be a matter of becoming what you act. Perhaps that���s the aftereffect of 12 years of Tollywood.
Well, it���s been two years since she had a Telugu release to her name, but Bhumika Chawla doesn���t think she is making a comeback with her latest flick ���April Fool���. ���If I ever left the audiences��� hearts, then this is definitely a comeback. Lekin agar mein ne kabhi dil choda hi nahi tho phir loutne ki baaat uthi nahi hai (If I���ve never left the hearts of the audiences, then where���s the question of a comeback?),��� she retorts.
Given her long onscreen absence, has she deliberately gone slow on her Tollywood career? ���I have a couple of Telugu and Malayalam films in the pipeline and I am getting a lot of offers. I strongly believe that the more an actor performs, the better he/she gets at it���.
But if you are an actress on the other side of 30, it is never easy, is it? ���I think a lot of actresses don���t like to believe that they can turn 30. I think, I accepted my age very graciously and people still think that I am beautiful, so that is a compliment,��� she quips.
Good looks apart, isn���t being desirable an essential aspect of being an actress? ���I think, desirability is increasingly being determined by the men. In the past, we have had a lot of actresses who weren���t strikingly sexy, but were considered beautiful. Unfortunately, these days, being sexy and hot has become a pre-requisite. The moment you say sexy, men imagine bikini-clad women. Once you see everything there to see, what can be sexy about it? I believe in leaving something to the imagination, having a conversation can be sexy too, but men being men will just not get it,��� she signs off laughing.
