After a break from films for 32 months, actor
Pawan Kalyan, who turned 49 on Wednesday, announced his return to the silver screen with a slew of big film announcements.
The actor-politician will be essaying the role of a lawyer in his upcoming film Vakeel Saab, a remake of the Taapsee Pannu-starrer
Pink, directed by Venu Sriram. The makers of the film released a new poster from the film which shows Pawan Kalyan dressed as a lawyer, holding a book about Criminal Law in one hand and a baseball bat in another, clearly ready to deliver justice both in and outside the court.
While filming for Vakeel Saab is complete, Pawan is all set to start shooting for a period drama with Krish, an update of which was released on Wednesday. Sharing a pre-look poster which shows the Power Star sporting a green outfit with a red cloth, director
Krish revealed that the film has completed 15 days of shoot before Covid-19 forced them to shut shop. “We have great memories of shooting for the film and I’m optimistic that the film will be a success,” Krish said.
Meanwhile, Pawan is also set to reunite with his Gabbar Singh director
Harish Shankar for another film. The director released a concept poster of the untitled venture, which shows a bike parked before the Gateway of India in Delhi, with images of freedom fighters in the backdrop. On the bike is a single red rose and the book Pedda Bala Siksha, hinting at the theme of the film. “This time it’s not just entertainment,” said the director, which incidentally is also the tagline of the film.
The last announcement of the day was about what could be the matinee idol’s landmark 30th film. Sye Raa director Surender Reddy will be helming the film, touted to be a commercial entertainer. “Pawan Kalyan has been busy with his political commitments for the last couple of years and he feels this is the right time for him to make a comeback to films. Although his political work will continue, he wants to make the most of next year, Covid-permitting, to wrap up as many films as he can and keep his fans happy,” revealed a source close to the actor.
