Priyanka Jawalkar made a splashing debut in the showbiz world with her leading lady role opposite Vijay Deverakonda in the supernatural-comedy Taxiwaala. With positive reviews and solid box-office numbers, the 2018 film proved to be a successful launchpad for the Maharashtrian in Tollywood. Courtesy her arresting beauty, ravishing screen-presence and solid acting chops; she managed to strike the right chord with the Telugu viewers in the bubbly role of Anusha.
Post the success of her maiden outing, the software engineer-turned-actress was flooded with several offers from multiple languages. However, she took her time and listened to several scripts. During a recent interaction, the sexy siren revealed that she has just wrapped up an anthology film. As a formal announcement is awaited, she didn’t divulge many details regarding the project. Despite looking fabulous in Taxiwaala, the blonde bombshell decided to shed those extra kilos from her body. After months of rigorous workouts in the gym, she trimmed down her weight and acquired a perfect slim figure. Hailing from a Maharashtrian household, Priyanka was born and brought up in Anantapur and at present, she is residing in Hyderabad. She developed an interest in acting after being mesmerised by Aishwarya Rai’s performance and her huge gowns in Jeans (1998).
Before entering the film industry, the hot diva has explored many things. She completed her Diploma from NIFT in Fashion Clothing & Technology and also pursued a brief statistics course in the United States. While doing her Diploma, she worked for an MNC company for a period of 6 months.
After uploading a few of her photos on social media, Priyanka was approached by several agents for roles in films. However, her mother was very keen that she completes her B Tech first, which she did. Upon wrapping up her Bachelor’s Degree, the young actress featured in two short films; Possessiveness and It is a girl Issue.
During her short stay in the United States, the Telugu-speaking girl realised that she should give films a try. After an 8-month statistics course, she returned to the country and joined training classes under NJ Bikshu, a professor of Theatre Arts. Upon wrapping up the 4-month training period, she forwarded her photos to Geetha Arts and in reply, they advised her to continue auditioning. After giving in multiple auditions for nearly three months, Jawalkar was finalised as the leading lady by Rahul Sankrityan for Taxiwaala.
According to reliable reports, Priyanka Jawalkar has signed a concept-based film opposite Shiva Kandukuri (son of Raj Kandukuri). She will reportedly essay the role of a Muslim girl who has to express mostly through her eyes. Touted to be a romantic entertainer, the film will be directed by debutante Srujana and the shooting is set to kick-off soon. Cinematographer Gnana Shekar is cranking the camera and bankrolling the film. However, an official confirmation is awaited.
