I believe in good cinema, says producer and director
Sai Kiran Adivi of Vinayakudu fame, while in Vizag to film his next movie Kiss.
Vizag is like home I did my schooling till class VI from Tiny Tots after which my family shifted to Rajahmundry before finally settling down in Kakinada. I have great memories of my childhood at Seetampeta and I keeping coming to the city once in a while.
For my current movie, we wanted to shoot on the beach with a bonfire and Vizag was the place that popped into my head.
Association with Sekhar Kammula I met Sekhar Kammula for the first time in 1999 and we had interacted a lot while he was making Dollar Dreams. My three-year interaction with him was an enriching experience where I picked up a lot about filmmaking.
A film for lil brother My younger brother
Adivi Sesh received a lot of appreciation for his performance in Panja and we wanted that run to continue. Thats when I decided to produce a movie for him. Later, Sesh approached me with the script of Kiss and it took me about two months to come up with a bound script. After pooling in funds, we started the shooting in November. Before the shooting, there was this question as to who would direct the movie. I could not take it up because I was already busy with another project.
Since the script was Seshs visualisation, I felt he would be the best person to direct the movie. After everything was in place, we came across this music director from Vizag, Sricharan Pakala, who is all set to give a different feel to the music in this movie.
Foray into movies I believe in good cinema and I always wanted to make my own films right from the start. In the beginning, I shot a few short films, did a couple of documentaries and ads. Later on, I worked for a government channel called Mana TV. While there, I made a documentary on Mahatma Gandhi, which was highly appreciated. Then I met Sekhar Kammula in 1999 and was drawn into filmmaking.
My film debut as a director was with Vinayakudu, for which I won two Nandi awards. Before that I worked with Kammula for Anand and Happy Days. Soon after that, I produced Village Lo Vinayakudu for which I was the producer and director. My family now runs a production house.
KISS is a simple rom-com This movie can be enjoyed on screen, but cannot be described in words. I am confident that after the release, every viewer will feel that the subject is fresh and interesting.
Family Support I come from a family of writers. Both my parents were wonderful writers. My dad stays in Kakinada at present and he was a Customs Superintendent. My family has always been supportive. My mom passed away, but she will always be the greatest support I had.
Future Projects I believe in doing one project at a time. Only when the project is complete and reaches the audience, do I get onto another project.
