I loved Mohanlal’s Lucifer, adapted it to suit Chiranjeevi’s image: Director Mohan Raja
The Telugu remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer was officially launched on Wednesday with a simple pooja ceremony.
Director Mohan Raja, who is making a comeback to Tollywood after Hanuman Junction, doesn’t quite like the word remake though. “While Mohanlal and Chiranjeevi are both superstars, they’re completely different actors. We’ve improvised quite a bit to suit Chiranjeevi’s image.

It will be more like an adaptation than a remake,” he says.
The filmmaker goes back a long time with Chiranjeevi. “What makes it all the more special is that my father (Editor Mohan) had produced Hitler in 1997 and I had assisted him on sets. I’ve been a fan of Chiranjeevi since back then so it feels like life has turned a full circle,” he explains.
Speculation is rife that Nayanthara, who romanced Chiranjeevi in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, is all set to share scereen with the Megastar again. Apparently, she will be playing the role Manju Warrier played in the original. When asked, Mohan chose to neither confirm nor deny. “The film has just been launched and talks are still in progress. It’s too early to reveal any details, it’ll take us a little time to finalise the cast and crew. We will make an official annoucement soon. For now, I’m just looking forward to start shooting,” he says, signing off.
