At the gates of his Manikonda bunglow,
Aadi greets us with a smile that extends from one ear to another. The actor who turns a year older today he just wouldnt tell us how old he is has an unmistakable glow on his face. The new father is not only elated about welcoming a baby girl into his life; his forthcoming action and romantic entertainer Garam, marks the launch of his home banner SreenivaSai Screens.
My parents (
Sai Kumar and Surekha) are producing a film for the first time and more than them, Im nervous. I know that there is this talk around town that they planned this venture because Im not getting films. Its not like that at all. Its just that they heard a very good script which touched their hearts. They took me into confidence, convinced me to go for it and I did, he says.
The actor, however, isnt in denial of the fact that his past releases did not do well. Either the films were not publicised well, or I didnt choose the right script or the casting wasnt up to the mark. So, with this film, we ensured that there were no loopholes what-so-ever. Garam is a complete package. Im super confident that people will come out of theatres smiling! says the actor.
Dad Sai Kumar spared no expense to ensure the film turns out to be a winner. My dad choose to shoot the songs in Italy and we spent around `1 crore, `20 lakhs for just three songs. The movie also has around 22 known actors playing equally significant roles in the film, quips Aadi who plays a village boy,
Varalu Babu, a quintessential tapori who revels in his ganjis. I made sure I look trendy in the songs though, he says smiling.
Adah Sharma plays a burqa clad Muslim girl Sameera who doesnt get a word of Telugu. And Varalu Babu cant speak Urdu. In fact, there will be very few dialogues in the first half. Most of the romance had to be conveyed through our eyes which was a test of our acting skills, explains Aadi, whose eyes give away a glint of disappoint. He wouldnt be spending his birthday with his daughter.
My wife and daughter are still in Rajahmundry and Ill miss them bad today. Nevertheless, Ill be hosting a bash for few of my close friends from the industry. And yes, Ive learnt to change my daughters nappy myself (laughs) and Im enjoying it.
Nevertheless, he adds, Being a father is an amazing high. And trust me, the delivery date given by doctors was around December 23, but our girl came into our life a few days early. Imagine, if doctors prediction was right, we could have shared our birthdays on the same day or back-to-back! But this is the best birthday gift I could have ever asked for, shares Aadi, whos still in search for a name that starts with A. Aadi is also shooting for another Telugu film Chuttalabbayi with Malayalam actress Namita Pramod, directed by Veera Bhadram. But he says, Im still a rising star. I know people like me and are very positive about me and my work, but Im a very practical person. I still need one big hit for my career to really take off.
Having tried a variety of genres, Aadi however thinks he doesnt fit the chocolate boy mould. Ive tried lot of genres in my past. But I think Im not meant for soft and romantic characters. I remember as a kid, I used to go and watch films and whistle in the theatre. I want people to whistle for me as well. So I am really trying to manifest the massy action commercial hero in me too, he signs off.
