Not too long ago, Shraddha Das and Varun Sandesh were an item, the duo were spotted at the last IPL do and they were pretty much public about their friendship. Yes, we were seeing each other, but all that ended three months ago. I guess, in the film industry, relationships are very short-lived but I am the kind who believes that certain things in life are for keeps.
I was heartbroken, but luckily I got Ramanaidu sirs Mugguru and I left for Malaysia for the shoot, says Shraddha, who doesnt want to get into the details of the break-up. But many fingers already have been pointing to Asmita Sood, Varuns co-star in Brahmigadi Katha.
Shraddha, who is now back in Mumbai to discuss a Bollywood film, says that during her three-day stay in the city, she was shocked by the reportage on Varun Sandesh and his alleged drug addiction. I was surprised and really shocked. I know him as a person and Im sure that he will come out clean.
Ask her about Twood constantly being involved in drug abuse and Shraddha says, I have partied at pubs but never have I seen anybody doing drugs there. But Ive heard that groups do drugs at private places. Thats something Ive never seen though.
Work wise, the Bengali babe is doing pretty well for herself. Her Kannada debut with Nitin Gowda, nephew of ex PM Deve Gowda, has a very contemporary subject. This is the first Kannada film that deals with live-in relationships. Its a subject that many young professionals in Bangalore can relate to. I play a psychopathic, aggressive techie who smokes, drinks and leads a pretty wild life. The film is all about the urban young and their issues.
Shraddha Das is also excited about working with Ramanaidu in Mugguru thats slated for release next month. He was there throughout the shoot and his eye for detail is unbelievable he even noticed the earrings that an actress was wearing and got them changed because he did not like it!
The actress just cant stop raving about her look in the film. When director V N Aditya, who was used to seeing me onscreen in a sari and lots of make-up always, saw me in real life wearing a dress sans the grease paint, he and said, you look so different, so much more cuter and younger. He ensured that I look that way in Mugguru. Ive done my make-up myself in the film and I think I am looking really nice! exclaims Shraddha who admits that she is trying to consciously move away from her sexy girl avatar.
I have this sexy image, apart from a tomboyish one. Now I am working towards a girly look. Mugguru is the first film in which I play a full-fledged lead role and like a regular leading lady, I get to run around trees, something I always wanted to do!
Its not just her wardrobe that has gotten a makeover. Shraddha looks fitter than ever, Revealing her workout secrets, she says, Yes, I have lost weight. I do kickboxing for two hours and I follow a strict diet. I eat carbs only during the day. At night its either a liquid diet or a protein-filled grilled dish. Im now truly a size zero!
Checking out the items that are part of the Times Collectibles, the funky merchandize the Times Group has recently launched, she exclaims, Cool stuff. The Common Man in TOI has been like family for generations. All of them are so cute the mugs, the tees, diaries and water bottles. After glancing back and forth at the water bottle and diary, she zeroes in on the diary. Just what I wanted! Nice to jot down my schedules, meetings, gym hours and other reminders.
