Dressed in a trench coat, Nag looked dapper as he wooed
Aakanksha Singh, in a song sequence when we dropped in on the sets of Devadas, recently. The actor sounded quite gung-ho about the multi-starrer helmed by
Sriram Aditya. “It’s a full on entertainment film — a comic
caper, you know, where I play a mafia don and
Nani is a doctor,” he says.
Talking about his character, he adds, “I’m not playing the stereotypical don that you usually see in Telugu movies, he’s different.
A romantic at heart, he is a funny mastikhor who loves to party. The focus isn’t so much on his mafia operations, that keeps running in the background of the film and his chelas take care of his business. His quirks will endear him to the audience and leave them in splits.”
How the don forms an unlikely friendship with a doctor, played by Nani, forms the crux of the story. “How they meet and then connect with each other, what happens next is all the film is about. They become very good friends. But this doctor guy (Nani) is completely against the mafia business I do, however, he can’t do anything about it nor does he have a choice, but to be friends with me and live with the fact, else my chelas will kill him. ”
It’s been a while since Nag acted in a comedy film and the actor is very excited. “I’m very excited to be dabbling with comedy after a while now and it’s even more fun to do comedy when you have the right script and a talented artiste like Nani with you. I’m very kicked about this film right now. I’ve two to three more movies lined up in the pipeline, I am still figuring out,” he says signing off.
