Adah Sharma has always maintained that she has many dimensions to her personality. So her role as a burqa-clad Sameera in Garam gave her a high because she was essaying what could be called a 'split personality'.
'I am this reserved girl in one scene, in another I just dance in a complete mass avatar wearing some quirky clothes. It's like I have two personalities in the film ' especially in the songs!' she enthuses, adding, 'I have many sides to my personality and showcasing two of them, gave me a high.'
The biggest challenge though was to emote through a veil.
'Sameera wears a burqa most of the time. This was a bit of a limitation when it comes to expressing emotions. I had to really work hard on expressing with the eyes,' she explains.
Challenges and hardships aside, Adah is content today because this role pushed her to perform. 'I have consciously chosen roles that require me to perform, be it Heart Attack or 1920. So I am very happy that
Garam gave me an opportunity to push further as a performer. In this movie, I don't play the stereotypical heroine,' she says.
Adah isn't the only one with a split personality; apparently
Aadi too has two different dimensions to him ' one, on camera and another, off. 'When are cameras are off, Aadi doesn't talk at all, but the minute that the camera is directed at him, he completely transforms,' she shares. Although Garam was a home production for Aadi, the actress says that at no point did she feel out of place. 'In fact, if Sai Kumar garu and Aadi were talking in Telugu, they would immediately translate it for me to make me feel at home. They took my opinion for everything, even the trailer! It was a wonderful working with them,' she says signing off.
Produced by Saikumar, Surekha under home banner of Sreeniva Sai Screens, Garam releases tomorrow.
