While visiting Mumbai,
Makoto Shinkai, the renowned anime director famous for his films Weathering With You and Suzume, spoke to the media about 'RRR.' As the biggest anime director in the industry, Shinkai shared his thoughts on Indian cinema and specifically praised director SS Rajamouli's 'RRR,' which enjoyed great success in Japan.
According to the media, Makoto Shinkai expressed that he had watched
Baahubali and 'RRR' and found the latter to be thoroughly enjoyable.
He noted that 'RRR' provides a new type of entertainment that cannot be found in Hollywood, making for a unique and exceptional experience that he loved.
The director of the anime also disclosed to the media that 'RRR' currently serves as a significant source of inspiration for him. Shinkai expressed his aspiration to create a movie akin to 'RRR' that would captivate Japanese viewers and transform them into Indian audiences, enabling them to come together with friends and enthusiastically cheer for the film.
According to him, Indian movies are enjoyable to watch with friends, express emotions openly, while Japanese films are more reserved, and require keeping emotions to oneself. He also mentioned that he gains a lot of knowledge from Indian directors.
Directed by renowned filmmaker SS Rajamouli, #RRRMovie is the first Indian film to cross the 100 crore mark in three different countries – India, USA, and Japan. Currently, #RRRMovie's overseas gross stands at an impressive $42 million, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. The film's success has brought Indian cinema to the forefront of the global film industry, proving that Indian movies have the potential to break barriers and achieve success beyond domestic audiences.
