Jr NTR's "Devara 2' should be shelved" trends online; Find out why

After the theatrical success of 'Devara: Part 1', which starred Jr NTR, fans were excited for its digital release. However, since it became available on Netflix in multiple languages, including Telugu and Tamil, the film looks to be facing criticism. Viewers have taken to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to voice their disappointment, sharing various flaws in the film and even suggesting that the sequel, 'Devara: Part 2', should be shelved.

The action drama directed by Koratala Siva has led to a debate among fans. While many initially supported the film upon its release, the shift in sentiment post-OTT launch has been striking. Fans suggest that Anirudh Ravichander's music has been a saving grace for the film, with some fans also suggesting the film's appeal is solely to his score. One fan remarked that while Anirudh's music elevated a "half-baked" movie, it might be better to focus on other projects rather than proceed with a sequel.

Fans have also complained that it lacked continuity as well as uniqueness, with some admitting it was too ambitious to make a pan-Indian action drama. The plot is predictable and composed of avoidable subplots that do not help the story and Jr NTR in the double role of Devara and his son Vara, many feel it's just not enough.

Despite receiving mixed reviews the movie became a blockbuster. The film grossed over Rs 414.90 crore globally as per Sacnilk.

Along with Jr NTR, the film also starred Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan making their Tollywood debut.

Currently, Jr NTR is busy with other projects, including 'War 2' and a collaboration with director Prashanth Neel and reports suggest Koratala Siva plans to work on a standalone project before returning to 'Devara: Part 2'.
