The highly anticipated film, marking the first-ever collaboration between the ace director SS Rajamouli and superstar
Mahesh Babu, tentatively named 'SSMB29', has reportedly secured a massive OTT deal while the film is in the early stages of shooting.
According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, streaming giant Netflix has bagged the digital rights for the film, making it one of the biggest non-theatrical deals in
Indian cinema history.
The OTT giant is said to have acquired the streaming rights for a record-breaking price, especially after the global success of Rajamouli’s 'RRR'. The Jr NTR and
Ram Charan starrer 'RRR' garnered tremendous international acclaim after premiering on the platform, and the streamer seems to be banking on similar success with 'SSMB29.'
The film also includes global star
Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran. PeeCee marks her much-awaited return to Indian cinema with this big-budget action-adventure.
'SSMB29' is being developed as a globe-trotting action-adventure inspired by the Indiana Jones franchise. The storyline is being developed by veteran writer Vijayendra Prasad, who is also Rajamouli's father and the man behind many iconic scripts, including 'Baahubali' and 'RRR'.
Earlier in March this year, the makers moved to
Odisha for the film's shoot. The next major filming leg is also speculated to take place in Kenya, starting in July 2025, focusing on high-octane chase sequences.
Interestingly, the film is rumoured to be made on a humongous budget of Rs 1000 crore with Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli both co-producing the film. The music is composed by Oscar-winning M.M. Keeravani.
While the official release date remains unconfirmed, speculation points to a possible launch on March 25, 2027, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of 'RRR'.
