My kids don't watch my films: Ashutosh Rana
A FAMILY MAN OFF SCREEN:I like to call this place Visakhapatnam instead of Vizag. I'm pretty attached to this city as my wife, Renuka, spent her childhood here; her father was in the Navy. Visakhapatnam is a combination of the deep sea and lush green hills. Jitna bolu, kam hai.I don't want my kids to question me:I definitely miss my family when I'm travelling, but their existence is always there ' in my heart and mind. I'm blessed with two children and when I'm working, Renuka takes care of them and when she is working, I take on the role. I don't want my children to grow up surrounded by maids because that's where problems in a family arise. I don't want my children to ask me later in life if I have fulfilled my responsibilities. I want to give them the best of everything and love them as much as possible. Whenever we get time off, we go for family trips. My kids never watch my filmsViewing my films need adult supervision. My kids haven't watched any of my movies as all of them are rated 'A'. Since some of them are in different regional language, they won't understand a thing anyway.
They only know from their friends that their parents are celebrities. They see the hoardings and posters sometimes and come to know that I'm starring in some movie. I don't take them on the sets of my film either.Won't push my children into moviesMy father never forced me into movies; he gave me the freedom to discover my own passion. So, that's how I'm going to bring up my children as well. I'm not going to push them into showbiz. They are free to choose whatever profession they like. But, they should live their passion. If they are interested in movies, they are always free to take a shot at it. But as I said, I don't want them to live my dream. As parents, we are there to guide them, not to force our dreams and ambitions on them. Not a party animalI'm not famous in the party circle. I like spending time with my family and reading. But, it's not like I completely avoid socialising. Sometimes we do visit our friends and have family get-togethers. That's my way of partying.I can be a good baddieI do negative roles with a positive attitude. Every negative role has a different shade to it. They are challenging. Not everyone can pull it off on screen. I have not done too many films, but have received appreciation for most of them. People have loved my work so far and that's what is important to me.Southern sojournI have worked with Ravi Teja in Venky; I have also done a Tamil film Vettai and two Kannada films. I learn something from every film I do. When it comes to Telugu cinema, Ravi Teja is my hero. He is a complete package ' he dance so well and has amazing comic timing. I am glad to be doing a film with him after so many years. I really feel nostalgic. I have also worked with Pawan Kalyan in Bangaram. He is extremely dedicated. He is not only focused, but also helpful. Balakrishna, who I shared screen space with in Okka Magadu, helped me a lot with Telugu. I'm blessed to have worked with all of them. They make me feel like family.Future projects I am currently doing two Telugu films ' Balupu and an untitled film; two Hindi movies ' Ab Tak Chappan (Part-2) which is a Ramgopal Varma production and Dirty Politics; and one Marathi film based on mythology of Shankasur.Dream rolesI want to do different mythological characters like Chanakya, Lord Krishna, Vivekananda, Raavan and Karna. I feel that these characters define me. Their se personalities are conflicting and they keep fighting with themselves over what is right and wrong. Through conflict, they became confident. I love to play such edgy roles. I'm fascinated by them.Journey so farIt has been a fantastic and adventurous journey. Everyone in showbiz works to attain the three P's - profit, power and pleasure. If you are working for profit, then don't ask for pleasure and power; but if you are working for pleasure, then power and profit will follow. I consider myself lucky because my passion became my profession. So, I'm not working for anyone; I work for myself.
