After years of delays and uncertainty, 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit,' starring
Pawan Kalyan, finally made its way to theaters. Directed by Jyothi Krishna, the historical drama opened to packed paid premieres, especially in the Telugu states, where Powerstar’s fan base showed up in full force. The film, once thought to be shelved, managed to hit the screens with a nearly three-hour runtime and was promoted as an epic tale of emotion and grandeur.
The sequel title is revealed in the climax
The film’s climax offered a major reveal: the official title for the second installment. As already known, 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' is a two-part saga.
As reported by the 123 Telugu website, while the first part focuses on the battle between sword and spirit, the sequel has now been confirmed to be titled 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 2 – Battlefield' (with ‘Yuddhabhoomi’ as its Telugu name). The movie ends with a cliffhanger, one that leans into fiction but also features real-life historical characters, setting the stage for a continuation that promises even more conflict and scale.
First reactions to the Pawan Kalyan starrer—is it positive?
Social media reactions poured in quickly after the premieres, and they were mixed. One user noted that the film’s interval brought some much-needed energy but described the first half as slow, with “serial vibes” and underwhelming action.
However, the Kusthi fight stood out for a few, with one calling it “one of the best action sequences in Telugu cinema.”
Despite the enthusiasm around Pawan Kalyan’s return, a significant number of early viewers expressed disappointment. A Twitter review reads, "Done with Hhvm premiers... movie—okay, okay. Fights. Pawan Kalyan's screen presence. Kervani thatha sava kotinadu. But VFX & CG are chala worst."
Despite mixed reviews, due to the good buzz, 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' is expected to have a magnificent run in cinemas.
