‘Ponniyin Selvan’ Part 1 Trailer: The 3:23 mins trailer introduces the major characters and their conflicts in the epic period drama

Maniratnam’s prestigious Pan-India flick 'Ponniyin Selvan -Part 1' trailer was launched yesterday at a grand event in Chennai. The trailer launch event graced several start warts of Tamil cinema such as Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai that got the public attention.It is known that the film is an epic period action drama based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel ‘Ponniyinselvan’. Where several attempts have been made in the past to make it a film but failed to do so, finally director Maniratnam made it with a whopping budget of Rs 500 crores. The 3:23 mins trailer introduces the characters of the historical kingdom and its hugely shot epic period visuals. The trailer also showcases the glimpses of internal conflicts, strategies among kings and the importance of women in governance of those times.The film trailer also promises edge-of-the-seat action sequences and world-class visual effects supported by AR Rahman’s background score that reminds us of films such as Baahubali, Game of Thrones and other similar ones. 'Ponniyin Selvan' is getting released in IMAX format and is said to be the first Tamil film to do so. It has its production design taken care of by Thota Tharani, cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad.
