Ram Charan’s upcoming sports action drama ‘Peddi’ directed by Buchi Babu Sana is gearing up for its theatrical release on June 4. As the makers planned premiere shows for June 3, the Andhra Pradesh government has officially allowed special shows that will begin at 8 PM across the state. Along with the premiere permissions, the government has also approved a temporary increase in ticket prices.
Ticket prices hiked for one week
According to a report by Mid-day, the premiere show tickets in Andhra Pradesh are now priced at Rs 600 including GST. The Andhra Pradesh government has also allowed theatres to increase regular ticket prices for the first seven days after release. Single-screen theatres can increase ticket prices by Rs 100, while multiplex theatres can increase them by Rs 125.
Apart from this, the government has also approved five shows per day for the film. This move is expected to help more audiences watch the movie during its opening week. Trade circles believe these permissions will help the film get a strong start at the box office.
While Andhra Pradesh has completed all permissions, there is still no official update regarding premiere shows in Telangana.
The release of Peddi recently faced problems because of discussions happening inside the Telugu film industry.
Theatre owners and producers were not agreeing on rental and revenue-sharing systems. The Telangana Exhibitors Association wanted a percentage-based sharing model.
Later, producers, distributors, and exhibitors held talks with Chiranjeevi to solve the issue. During the meeting, it was decided that the percentage-sharing system will officially begin from July 3.
