T-town's tryst with democracy takes a dramatic turn

Polling day sees Tollywood tamasha and tantrums as the common man stands up for the rights and makes a point
"Do you need special treatment?��� Union Minister Chiranjeevi was asked this question as he entered the polling booth to vote on Wednesday morning. Raja Karthik Ganta became an instant hero, as he confronted Chiranjeevi under the full glare of media attention.
Chiranjeevi made it to the polling centre Jubilee Hills Club at 9.11 am along with wife Surekha, son Ram Charan and daughter Sushmita and stood in the queue to vote. Seeing him in the queue, one polling official beckoned Chiranjeevi to come inside and vote, he turned down the offer. As the media personnel jostled to snap his image, some officials urged him to go ahead and vote. As Chiranjeevi and his family entered the polling booth, Raja Karthik sprang into action and asked: ���Don���t you think you should stand in the queue?���

Chiranjeevi beat a hasty retreat and stood in the queue while his wife and son went ahead and voted. Chiranjeevi could flash his inked finger only at 10.32 am. This was one of the sub-plots that played out on Wednesday as voting in Hyderabad turned into a tug-of-war between celebrity prerogative and common man���s will. Within minutes the social media was ablaze with hosannas for Karthik, the Cambridge-based IT professional.
NTR jr in Queue
Elsewhere, when NTR Jr walked into the Obul Reddy School with his visibly pregnant Lakshmi Pranathi at 7.15 am, the voters in the queue asked her to go ahead and vote. While his wife voted and came out, NTR Jr patiently stood in the queue and voted at 8 am.
In contrast, Pawan Kalyan had a breezy affair. He walked in to the Gayathri Hills, Road No. 10, Little Star School at 7.15 am, stood in the queue. As media buzzed around him, people in the queue asked him to go ahead and vote. And he came out after voting without much fuss.
Nagarjuna Kataar Mein Hain
Nagarjuna, who voted along with Amala, at Road No. 45 Jubilee Hills Women���s Hostel entered the polling venue at 8.05 am and was out by 8.30 am without any hassle.
Kajal Aggarwal from Medak
In a curious turn of events, Kajal Aggarwal���s name surfaced on the voters��� list in Jangarai village in Chinnashankarpeta Mandal, Medak district. Obviously, it left everyone red-faced and questions were asked about the lapse.
Balakrishna Ahead of Queue
Nandamuri Balakrishna walked in at 9.34 am and was out by 9.42 am at the BSNL office, 36 Jubilee Hills. He jumped the queue and went straight inside the polling booth. ���Although nobody walked up to Balakrishna to request him to stand in the queue, people asked the media why should there be a separate rule for actors and common men,��� said an onlooker, who was at the polling booth, adding, ���On top of that, he was using his cell phone when everyone was told clearly that cell phones are not allowed.���
Mahesh Babu, Brahmi find their names missing!
Mahesh Babu found his name missing from the voter���s list at the polling booth where he was supposed to cast his vote. Confusion reigned through the day about his vote. As a result, he didn���t cast vote till late in the evening. Like Mahesh Babu, even Brahmanandam found his name missing from the electoral rolls. Responding to the incident, Brahmanandam told the media that he would take up the issue with the electoral officer and try his best to cast his vote by the end of the day.
