Chatcha Patumthip is the latest import to test the waters in T-Town. Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, the actress has played one of the lead roles in Nagesh Naradasis Boom Boom.
I never thought that I would act in a Telugu film and it came as a big surprise when Nagesh showed interest to cast me as one of the lead characters, Chatcha says, adding that she has been working in the Thai film industry for the past 10 years.
I graduated with a degree in architecture; however, I am extremely passionate about films and I really want to direct one in future. In the meantime, I wanted to act and work behind the scenes to gain experience and so, I began acting in films when I turned 19. Since I attend plenty of auditions, several casting directors had my portfolio and thats how Nagesh spotted me, she shares.
Chatcha reveals that shes playing the role of a Thai girl, whose life goes through a dramatic change when a Telugu boy falls in love with her. Thing is, these two characters dont speak the same language and that was the fun part of the role. I could relate a lot to it because I cant understand a word of Telugu. My co-star, Bharat helped me a lot and Nagesh taught me how to act in Indian style, Chatcha says.
Ask her what the major difference between Indian style and Thai style is and she says, I have been a part of few international films which were shot in Thailand and learnt the nuances of acting. When it comes to Indian style, theres a lot more emphasis on facial expressions and body language. Its difficult to adapt myself to it instantly, and honestly, I dont know if I have done a good job (laughs). But the most interesting part was dancing to a Telugu song. It turned out to be more difficult than what it seemed in the beginning. Finally, the choreographer understood my problem and changed the dance moves (laughs). Im curious to see how people react to my role in the film.
