1x1 polls
What was your first response when you were chosen to do Pappus character in the remake?
I took it up without even knowing about the movie and my role. When I watched the movie by Bharathan sir, I was really excited to know that I was given the opportunity to do the role. But my mom who was not happy and advised me to be careful while choosing my characters. Fazil sir encouraged me to go ahead with it. Later, the director Rajeev himself spoke to my mother and convinced her. My father was supportive.
What was your familys response after the release of the movie?
My mother was the happiest person and was proud of me. She was in tears when she saw the screening of a song from the movie for the first time. All my cousins appreciated my work.
How was it doing steamy scenes with Shwetha Menon?
Working with Shwetha was a different experience altogether. She never took me for a fresher and was very friendly. Rajeev sir was satisfied with my acting skills in the first take itself. Thanks to Shwetha for making it easy for me.

How did Fazil spot you for your first movie Living Together?
I came to know through one of my friends that Fazil sir was taking auditions for actors in his new movie Living Together. Though I got the news that he rejected about 600 people, I did not give up hope. I gave my audition and on the third day I got a call from Fazil sir to do the role of Niranjan in the movie.
Who gave you your first break in modelling?
I have modelled for ads like Reliance (All Kerala), Veegaland, Bhima Jewellery and Lakshmi Jewellery. It was Jabbar Kallarakal who gave me a big break in modelling.
Do you see yourself as the Emraan Hashmi of Mollywood two years from now?
Yes! I can visualise that provided directors make such stories and roles for me. If I am offered such roles, I would definitely take it. I can go to any extent for the character I depict. Malayalam industry has changed over the years. So Emraan Hashmi kind of movies would not be an issue.
Ennennum Ormakai is your next venture. Tell us something about the character you are playing?
Ennennum Ormakai is due for release by September. It is directed by Robin Jose and I am paired opposite Dhanya Mary Varghese. The story is about a village boy and his friendship.
Future projects
I have committed to two films, Cherukanum Pennum by Pradeep Nair and Kalikalam by Reji Nair. Talks are on for other projects as well.
