Nandamuri Balakrishna's latest flick 'Daaku Maharaaj' recently became a trending topic over the internet, particularly due to the notable absence of actress
Urvashi Rautela from the film's promotional poster as it gears up for its OTT release.
The poster, shared by Netflix India to announce the film's streaming date on February 21, 2025, featured prominent cast members including Balakrishna,
Bobby Deol,
Pragya Jaiswal, and
Shraddha Srinath but left out Rautela entirely. This did not go unnoticed by fans and social media users, who quickly took to platforms like Instagram and Reddit to express their amusement and disbelief.
Now, the situation became even more ironic when Netflix later posted a follow-up featuring Rautela not once but twice. This prompted further jokes from fans, who remarked on her newfound recognition. One comment read, "Finally! Urvashi gets justice," while another quipped about her being the only actress included twice in a film with such high earnings. Another internet user wrote, "The first woman from Daaku Majaraj finally getting the recognition she deserves".
For the unversed, Rautela had been actively promoting 'Daaku Maharaaj' following its theatrical release on January 12, where it garnered around Rs 90 crore in India and Rs 125.8 crore worldwide. However, her promotional efforts were often met with mixed reactions, especially after she made headlines for discussing her expensive watch during an interview when about the recent stabbing incident involving actor Saif Ali Khan.
The film directed by Bobby Kolli is set against the backdrop of the 1990s, 'Daaku Maharaaj' follows the story of Krishnamurthy, a wealthy philanthropist who lives with his orphaned granddaughter, Vaishnavi. When Krishnamurthy discovers that a local MLA named Trimurthulu is using his coffee estate for illegal activities, he faces threats to his family's safety.
