Amid preparations for the upcoming supernatural adventure thriller ‘Vrushakarma’,
Naga Chaitanya recently shared his desire to be part of a romance drama project. The actor who delivered the superhit ‘Thandel’ in 2024 alongside Sai Pallavi, spoke about how filmmakers should produce love stories, calling them a “comfort watch” for the audience.
Naga Chaitanya eyes return to romance
As per a report by Mid-Day, the actor shared how Indian films have recently been relying on heavy VFX spectacle films. He admitted that although those films bring a rich theatre experience, filmmakers must also invest in making romance genre films. “Spectacle films are brilliant for a theatrical experience. At the same time, we need to invest in films that people can go back to, comfort watches that fill their heart. Love stories are something I enjoy doing as an actor. I want to go back and do one. I want to tell different love stories,” he said.

Naga Chaitanya on changing audience perception
The Telugu actor also mentioned the shift where action-packed films began dominating the box office, leading to love stories being considered for home viewing. “The impression was that people are watching love stories on OTT and going to theatres for [action] films. That’s not entirely true. It’s just that we’ve taken [the genre] away from the audience,” he added.
