After scorching the screen with a bold, unconventional role in the 2018 sleeper hit RX 100,
Payal Rajput seems to have chosen a romcom as her second Telugu film. However, she has more to do than just run around trees in this film as well. Apparently, Payal will be seen playing a village belle who ends up fighting for her entire
village at a crucial juncture in the film.
“It’s a women centric film. I play a strong-headed girl, who stands up for what’s right and can go to any extent to fight for her people. The film focuses on an important social cause, which you will find out soon,” says Payal, who has been shooting in the city for the past few days. Interestingly, the film will also see her playing
kabaddi, fighting off men, et al. “For the past three days, I have been filming a kabbadi sequence. I did train for it to get it right, and boy, was it fun! I also have a scene where you will see me fighting with five men. I did all the stunts myself,” shares Payal.
Directed by Bhanu Shankar, the film stars Hushaaru actor Tejus Kancherla as the male lead. “I’m excited to be doing a romcom opposite Payal. While it’s a typical love story on the surface, the film has several layers that will unfold one at a time. I play a media baron’s son. But it’s not a rich-boy-meets-village-girl love story. It’s going to be a dramatic and entertaining ride, I promise,” he says.
