Anthony Grove, a man with a violent criminal past, was arrested in Daytona Beach, Florida, after deputies found him among spring breakers during a crowded beach patrol operation. According to The New York Post and local reporting shared by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Grove was taken into custody during a law enforcement sweep intended to manage disorderly spring break crowds.
Officials said Grove was sitting near another person who was drinking from an open container when deputies approached. The sheriff’s office later said he initially “played it real cool.” He was reportedly calm at first, but officers later confirmed that he was wanted in Ohio on a parole violation. Authorities had already described him as “dangerous and possibly armed,” according to the reports cited in the coverage.

Who is Anthony Grove?
Grove is a 45-year-old Ohio man with a severe criminal background. Ohio authorities say he previously pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. The case dates back to 2015, when he threw a coffee mug during an argument and struck his infant son in the head.
The child later died from the injury, according to the People report.
He has violated his parole conditions
At the time of his Florida arrest, Grove was said to have violated parole conditions that required written permission before crossing state lines.
He had been released in 2023 and was later wanted for violating those terms. He is now also facing Florida charges, including failure to register as a convicted felon and two counts of drug possession after a THC vape pen was allegedly found in his bag.
According to News 5 Cleveland, deputies were already on the beach addressing an open-container issue when Grove was questioned and later identified through a background check. He remains in custody and is expected to be extradited to Ohio.
