Air chief to visit US soon

NEW DELHI: India and the US are likely to discuss their experiences in the use of air- power in counter-terrorist operations, as also ways to strengthen the "inter-operability" between the forces of the two countries, during IAF chief Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy’s forthcoming visit to America.
Defence ministry officials on Thursday said Air Chief Marshal Krishnaswamy, who will be on an official visit to the US from June 24 to July 2, will also hold talks with senior American defence and military officials on the progress made so far in holding joint exercises and the scope for expanding their content in the future.
US Air Force (USAF) officials will brief the IAF chief on the conduct of the air operations in the ongoing ‘‘Operation Enduring Freedom’’ in Afghanistan. ACM Krishnaswamy, in turn, will elaborate on the role played by his force in operations in Ladakh and other areas of J&K.
The IAF chief will also hold discussions with US Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff General Myers and Pacific Command chief Admiral Thomas B Fargo, among others.
