In 2019, BJD candidate Mahesh Sahoo won the 2019 General Election with a victory margin of 35,412 votes, securing 5,22,884 votes. Mahesh Sahoo defeated Rudra Narayan Pany of the BJP, who got 4,87,472 votes. The constituency witnessed a significant voter turnout of 74.98% in 2019.
The date of voting for the Dhenkanal constituency of Odisha is May 25 (Phase 6) and the result will be announced on June 04.
BJP has fielded Rudra Narayan Pani for the upcoming elections from this seat while Congress has fielded Sashmita Behera. BJD has given ticket to Abinash Samal from this constituency.
