J&K, Haryana Election Results 2024 Live: 'Whenever they lose they question EVMs,' says Assam CM Himanta
Election Results Haryana and Jammu Kashmir Live: The Congress raised concerns over alleged irregularities in some Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the counting of votes for the Haryana assembly elections and demanded an investigation into these discrepancies. The party has requested the Election Commission (EC) to seal and secure the EVMs in question until the inquiry is completed.
A delegation of senior Congress leaders, including former chief ministers Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Ashok Gehlot, along with AICC representatives K C Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, and Pawan Khera, as well as Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan, met with top EC officials to discuss the matter. The delegation submitted a memorandum to the officials, detailing specific complaints from various constituencies in Haryana. Senior party leader Abhishek Singhvi participated in the meeting virtually.
The Congress leaders claimed that there are at least 20 complaints, with seven of them in writing, from different assembly constituencies. Many of these complaints referred to EVMs functioning at 99 per cent battery capacity, while the average EVMs were found to be operating at 60 to 70 per cent battery capacity during the counting process.
Former chief minister Hooda expressed surprise at the Haryana results, stating that everyone believed the Congress would form the next government in the state. He pointed out that the Congress was winning during the counting of postal ballots, but the situation changed when the counting of EVMs began. BJP leader Sofi Mohammad Yousuf said on Monday that the five members nominated by Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha will be from his party, amidst the controversy surrounding their nomination. "All the nominated members are from the BJP. It is our government at the Centre. Whoever is in the government, the (nominated) candidates will also be theirs," Yousuf stated in his remarks.
According to Yousuf, the five nominated members consist of BJP leaders Ashok Kaul, Rajni Sethi, Fareeda Khan, Sunil Sethi, and the president of the BJP's J&K Mahila Morcha. When questioned about the approval of the names, Yousuf confidently responded, "It has been stamped already. We are already winning five seats."
Yousuf's statement comes in the wake of several parties expressing their intention to oppose any attempt to nominate the five members during the process of forming the government.

"Postal ballots will be counted first, followed by the counting of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) after 30 minutes," he said.
Haryana witnessed a voter turnout of 67.90 per cent, and several exit polls have forecasted a Congress win. The BJP, on the other hand, has asserted its confidence in securing a third consecutive term in the state.

A delegation of senior Congress leaders, including former chief ministers Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Ashok Gehlot, along with AICC representatives K C Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, and Pawan Khera, as well as Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan, met with top EC officials to discuss the matter. The delegation submitted a memorandum to the officials, detailing specific complaints from various constituencies in Haryana. Senior party leader Abhishek Singhvi participated in the meeting virtually.
