Govt aims generating 5K tonnes of medical oxygen at hospitals
NEW DELHI: The
Sources said both the Central and state government agencies are coordinating in this area to ensure that the country doesn’t face the crisis of medical oxygen as it was during the peak of the second wave of Covid-19.
Officials said availability of medical oxygen at hospitals across the country will address the transportation and logistics difficulties relating to medical oxygen. According to Road transport and highway secretary
The necessity of expediting the setting up of PSA oxygen plants was felt when the Central and state governments had to source the medical oxygen from plants that are located more than 1,000 km from hospitals.
“With less number of cryogenic tankers, it’s almost impossible to get the medical oxygen from one corner of the country to another. If you can get it at the hospital itself or from a nearby plant, there is nothing like it. A lot of effort had to be taken to deal with problems at source, tracking of vehicles and managing the affairs at hospitals,” said a government source.

If such captive oxygen generating units..... were set up in big hospitals etc..... 7 or 8 months back itself -- with minimum foresight and earnest public interest -- by BJP tops --- (instead of passing the buck to states - healthcare is state subject, etc.)...........lacs of precious lives would have been saved here.......? BJP just ignores any alarm bells - caution note -- apart from a Parliamentary Com advising pro-active measures (due to shortage of medical oxygen felt last year itself) ..... several experts, major newspaper editorials, public comments, etc..... also insisted upon prior preps -- on a war-footing..... (which was seen for state poll campaigns of course - top ministers PM etc. took active part in poll campaigns,,) laxity on preparedness despite some nations jolted by relapse virus waves in Nov. 20 itself) --- is unpardonable blunder --- other bungles on a row --- NO ACCOUNTABILITY....... now again BJP tops on poll-mode much more than before..... as they have to protect their own political turf in some big states...... and try to seize power & pelf in other states).............Have the big netas in top power gear --- crushed their conscience below their shoes.........??
