AHMEDABAD: A Gujarat BJP MLA had a narrow escape on Friday when two assailants fired at him in Saputara Hill Station of Dangs district.
Bhavin Sheth, representing the Ellisbridge Assembly constituency in Ahmedabad, was leaving the Circuit House for a morning walk when he was attacked by the motorcycle-borne assailants, the police said.
Sheth is a protege of the late Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya, who was gunned down in his Ellisbridge constituency while he was out for morning walk at Law Garden on March 26, 2003.
Sheth''s private assistant Nimesh Desai said, "Sheth is unhurt. The bullet zipped past his ear following which he ducked and alerted the police."
Sheth''s armed commandos were also not with him when the incident occurred as one was inside the house and the other had gone with his relatives to Shirdi in Maharashtra.
The police in bordering states have been alerted and a hunt was on for the assailants.
