Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane will visit Ladakh on July 17 and Srinagar on July 18, reports ANI

Defence minister Rajnath Singh will visit Ladakh and Srinagar later this week to take stock of the situations in both Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the Line of Control (LOC). He will be accompanied by Army Chief General MM Naravane. While they will visit Ladakh on July 17, both will be in Srinagar on July 18. While Pakistan constantly violates ceasefire from across the LoC, China has continued to intrude into Indian territory in Ladakh region in recent past, escalating tensions between India and its eastern neighbour.

Defence sources, acknowledged that phase-II of the de-escalation process would be much tougher to finalise since the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is hotly disputed between the two sides in the Depsang Plains and Pangong Tso areas. The LAC is relatively less contested in Galwan Valley, Hot Springs and Gogra, where bulk of the rival troops have mutually pulled back by 1-2.5 km each to create temporary no-patrolling zones under Phase-I of the de-escalation plan decided in the last meeting between the corps commanders on June 30.
