India Pakistan News Live Updates: 'Operation Sindoor not over yet, whatever happened was just a trailer,' says Rajnath Singh

India Pakistan News Live Updates: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Friday interacted with the Air Warriors at the Air Force Station in Bhuj, Gujarat.

"In the last 48 hours, we have conducted two very successful operations. These two operations were conducted in the Kelar in Shopian and Tral areas, which resulted in the neutralisation of a total of six terrorists. We are committed to ending the terror ecosystem here," IGP Kashmir VK Birdi said on Friday in a press briefing.

Union minister Rajnath Singh, during his address at the Badami Bagh Cantt, Srinagar, emphasised that he is a "postman" who has brought the message of the entire world to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Rajnath Singh said that he is a "messenger" and he had come with his best wishes, prayers and thankfulness of the entire country. The defence minister visited Jammu and Kashmir for the first time after Pahalgam terror attack and the Operation Sindoor.

"Besides being the defence minister, I am here as a messenger too. I am here with the best wishes, prayers and thankfulness of the entire country. In a way, I have come to you as a postman and brought to you the message of the entire world - that we are proud of our Armed Forces", he said while addressing the gathering.

The raksha mantri also slammed Pakistan and its ability to handle nuclear weapons. He asked the global community whether nuclear weapons are safe in the hands of such a "rogue" nation like Pakistan.

"The world knows that our army's aim is accurate and when they hit the target, they leave the counting to the enemies. How strong is India's pledge against terrorism today, it can be known from the fact that we did not even care about their nuclear blackmail. The whole world has seen how irresponsibly Pakistan has threatened India. Today, from the land of Srinagar, I want to raise this question whether nuclear weapons are safe in the hands of such an irresponsible and rogue nation. I believe that Pakistan's nuclear weapons should be taken under the supervision of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," he said.

The defence minister credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the armed forces for the success of Operation Sindoor. Rajnath Singh also lauded the "anger" which was shown by the people of Jammu and Kashmir against Pakistan and terrorism.

"The entire country is proud of what you did during Operation Sindoor under the able leadership and guidance of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I may be your Defence Minister but before that I am a citizen of India. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have expressed their anger towards Pakistan and terrorism with complete unity. I congratulate the people of Jammu and Kashmir. I have come to feel the energy that has destroyed the enemy. The way you destroyed the Pakistani posts and weavers across the border, the enemy can never forget that", Rajnath Singh said.

The union minister began his address with the chant of "Bharat Mata ki Jay" and paid his tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives while battling against terrorism.

"First of all, I would like to bow to the supreme sacrifice of the brave jawans while they fought terrorism and terrorists. I pay respect to their memory. I also pay respect to the innocent civilians who were killed in Pahalgam. I also salute the valour of the injured soldiers and pray to God that they may recover at the earliest", Rajnath Singh said.

Earlier, Rajnath Singh inspected the shells which were dropped in Jammu and Kashmir during cross-border shelling from Pakistan. The Defence Minister's visit to Srinagar follows the Prime Minister's visit to the Adampur Air base on Tuesday.

India Pakistan News Live Updates: British commentator David Vance backs Operation Sindoor, says India's strike was 'long overdue'
British political commentator and writer David Vance has voiced strong support for India's Operation Sindoor, calling it "long overdue" and a necessary move.
Vance also repeated his earlier remarks from a 2018 United Nations address, where he called Pakistan a "failed state" and a "terrorist incubator."

In an interview with ANI, Vance said, "I think the operation was long overdue. That's the first thing. It needed to happen is the second thing. And thirdly, I think the operation has been pretty successful... I think this was India striking a blow for civilisation. It was a lot more than just the conflict with Pakistan. This is something I said at the UN back in 2018; I consider Pakistan to be a failed state, a terrorist state, a terrorist incubator. And so it was good that India moved against it."

Tensions escalated as cops tried to rescue Hossain from the mob and disperse the protesters. The crowd turned violent. Stones were hurled. Police retaliated with lathicharge and tear gas shelling.

Congress’ Rahul Gandhi will hold a press conference Friday to address issues arising after the pause in conflict. In a resolution, CWC termed govt’s silence “inexplicable and unacceptable”. “This represents a dangerous and unprecedented hyphenation of India with Pakistan, which compromises our national position and prestige,” the resolution said. It also reiterated the need for accountability on the “intelligence failure” in Pahalgam.

India Pakistan News: India to move UNSC panel again on TRF
An Indian delegation is expected to brief UNSC 1267 Sanctions Committee monitoring team about the terrorist activities of The Resistance Front (TRF), the terror group which took responsibility for the Pahalgam attack before retracting later.

While India has been pursuing the listing of the TRF, which is believed to be a front for the UN proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba, since 2023, by UN as a global terror group, govt has renewed its efforts after the Pahalgam massacre of tourists. Officials say banned outfits like LeT and JeM use fronts like TRF for attacks.

The UNSC didn’t name TRF in its condemnation due to Pakistan’s objection, which Indian authorities say exposes Islamabad’s duplicity on terrorism.
